Bill,

President of the School Board for four years. Moved to New Mexico at the end of the term. No pay but lots of phone calls at all hours of the day and night. I couldn't really believe I was a politician until I found myself making statements to people like "You just don't look old enough to have two children in High School." It was a good lesson in diplomacy and human relations. It was also a good lesson in dealing with the press. After reading the local newspaper reviews of school board meetings I became convinced that I must have slept through the meeting rather than chaired it. Four years was enough and besides, we didn't have any interns. VBG
