Dale J.

<<Do you think AMD will be able to compete with Merced or Xeon in the server market? I believe INTC will dominate the server and workstation market, but I would like to get your opinion.>>

K7 is not intended to compete with Merced. K7 is to compete with Xeon. INTC will still dominate the server market since they have been doing business in that market long before AMD. K7 will be AMD first shot to enter the server market. From preliminary data, K7 will top Xeon in performance in all categories. K7 will be the fastest X86 CPU in the world. Thus I believe AMD will be able to break into the server market successfully. For those that desire only the highest performance servers AMD will have an alternative to Intel. There will be many who continues to buy Intel since they have accustomed to use Intel products.

Dale, <an initial inspection of the floor plan [of Merced]>...
So, instead of making a silicon, they are leaking
highly "confidential" chip floorplans? Kind of
tactics employed by Starr, is not it?
One more evidence of total failure of Merced.
