Joe,

Incidentally Susan Atkins left LGND. ("to pursue other interests").

Do you know when this event occurred?

Bob

Understand your point of view. More stock is more stock. Is more stock always dilutive? Depends on how you define, is! More stock being issued, is not always dilutive. Dilutive means my interest in the company is reduced. This is a function of price, existing book value and the number of shares issued.

One might argue, and I will not since I do not feel strongly on this, that issuing stock above the book value is not dilutive. I once did not exercise my rights to buy ICOS at around $3 since it was clear that once I bought it only the existing shareholders would benefit from my cash infusion, and the stock would be worth $1.62. Some dumb s.o.b. name Bates or Yates bought the shares I refused. Proves how little he knew. <g>

On the morphine pill, I also must agree that the rational is beyond me, but doing deals is not easy and requires give and take. It may have been something that ELAN needed/wanted that LGND felt they could do and LGND might have gotten some benefit from being able to say yes. My point is that while I would like to know all the details, this is not a reasonable expectation.

Not being condescending. This is my normal style of posting. (Not proof that I'm not condescending), but hope my post is taken on face value. BTW I now agree that a DSMB is not quite as mechanical as I once thought it was.

Ah! so THAT's why IR never answered either of my emails asking whether Ron Evans is still contracted to Ligand.

Regards,
Cheryl

PS She's always answered my questions before.
