If the K7 is NOT as fast as claimed on this thread, it should expose even more nonsense.

Scumb,
Re -- A faster CPU came along and burned them

You are making a whole bunch of assumptions here. Its unclear if the timing loop was not in the code specific to K6/chipset/bus initialization/interface.

That is why AMD should stop shipping the K6, findout exactly what the cause is, prove that it wont happen in other applications (e.g if in the initialization can only happen in the OS then they are safe), provide on their web site for free instructions and patches on the problem.

This may or may not be a serious problem. Its upto AMD to show this.

They haven't done this and have left the poor consumers in the lurch.

I hope Elmer is satisfied with the lengthy post, spelling out in detail stuff which he is too lazy to think about.

Scumbria - Re: "A faster CPU came along and burned them.
Maybe they will learn a lesson."

You're claiming that the K6-2 at 350 MHz is FASTER than the 450 MHz Pentium IIs that DON't CRASH on Windows 95?

Re: "If K7 is as fast as claimed on this thread, it should expose more
nonsense."

I'll bet you're right ! Are you predicting severe stability problems already with the K7?

Paul
