Eric, What do you think about the telecom preannouncements - in particular Alcatel and NT? I wonder if the sector is still in a state of confusion and firm contracts haven't been established. Possibly the hype is leading the reality. MCI and WorldCom are now just getting to finish their merger. AT&T probably can't move fast if it wanted to. The Telebras auction in Brazil was hopefull at the time, but now with Brazil and world turmoil, there is probably a wait-and-see attitude about rolling about deployments. And lastly, everybody wants to know what the new order is with LU and who knows who. I'll bet that equipment buyers and sellers have to put plans on hold until this round of musical chairs is finished. In the mean time, it may look as if the sector is slowing. It's spending too much time on planning and not enough on getting things done. I will be glad when the hype is over with. I am tired of the nuisance rumors and speculation... What do you think? joe
