Yes, all DVD players play CD audio. (gotta like this backward compatibility). In the 927, the audio signal to noise ratio is great, and the digital to analog converters run at up to 96KHz and 24 bits. In contrast, CD audio runs at 44.1KHz and 16 bits, so the DVD player circuitry handles these signals with ease. The player handles one disc, so this is a downside if you are used to a CD changer. There are DVD players with changer mechanisms made by Sony and others. The slow motion on the 927 is jerkier than I expected, but it sure beats a VCR!
