Dwight, on the Gore impeachment issue.

Firstly let me say that if Gore's campaign finance deals are found to be planned and executed with knowledge and forethought, and those deals are in violation of campaign finance laws, then let justice be served. Are breaking campaign finance laws misdemeanors, felonies? I don't know. Accepting campaign funds from foreign nationals should be a felony at minimum, I think. Such acts essentially make our leaders beholden to not only domestic PACs, but foreign PACs as well.

Why not just sell the Presidency to the highest bidder, domestic or foreign? At least the US Treasury would get the money, instead of TV stations. Maybe we could pay off the national debt, which is in excess of $3 trillion, if I remember right.

But the current mood of the people seems to shy away from impeaching Clinton, so I don't see the sense in discussing impeaching Gore.

I'm resigned to the fact that we will have a lame duck Executive Branch, which will spend the remainder of its term handing out weather-related disaster funds to grateful recipients.
