If I may offer an explanation:

The release time of Frolands article is about 15 min before the stock began moving. As Barry Grossman points out, this looks like a new and much higher estimate for the Rambus market, and H&Q probably recognized this.

The aggressive bidding is just a direct way of saying "sell me shares".

The after-the-close trade at $64 is an "irregular trade, Form T" and could have been executed any time during the day. (There was a trade of 50,000sh @$63 at 3:35pm)

I'm not sure about the market-size idea, but, if it's true you won't be able to touch the stock tomorrow.

As I said earlier, this sale was cancelled. And, even if it wasn't, so what? Remember, some market maker might have accumulated 50K shares and wanted out and saw the size go off after the close and put them up cheaper to move them.

Happens all the time.
