Her is my calculation of GSM's pe:
Trailing 12 months

Q1 Sept 30/97 $0 .07 CDN
Q2 Dec 31/97 $0.08 CDN
Q3+Q4 June 30/98 $ 0.34 CDN
Total $0.49 CDN
Current price $2.25
pe=( $2.25/.49) = 4.69

Darren,
Wake up man! Ok, so the financial post has a PE of 9.4 but this is an obvious mistake. They have taken the price of 2.26 CDN divided by .24 US and got 9.4.

It should be 2.26/(.24x1.51) = PE of 6.23 *BASIC*
OR 2.26/(.22x1.51) = PE of 6.8 *FULLY DILLUTED*
(including 1 time charge)

I will post my analysis on this quarter's numbers and how they compare to the previous quarter later on this week on SI.

Using valuation tools including PEG (PE/growth) GSM is very cheap although the historical growth is difficult to determine because of GSM's fairly short history.

Later, MatthewZ.
