YEAH .... BUT THIS WAS A DIFFERENT DAY AND TIME

A former president, Teddy Roosevelt, said this on May 12, 1900 while he was still governor of New York.

"We can afford to differ on the currency, the tariff, and foreign policy; but we cannot afford to differ on the question of honesty if we expect our republic permanently to endure ... "Honesty is not so much a credit as an absolute prerequisite to efficient service to the public. Unless a man is honest, we have no right to keep him in public life; it matters not how brilliant his capacity "The weakling and the coward cannot be saved by honesty alone; but without honesty, the brave and able man is merely a civic wild beast who should be hunted down by every lover of righteousness. "No man who is corrupt, no man who condones corruption in others, can possibly do his duty by the community.... "'Liar' is just as ugly a word as 'thief,' because it implies the presence of just as ugly a sin in one case as in the other. If a man lies under oath or procures the lie of another under oath, if he perjures himself or suborns perjury, he is guilty under the statute law. "Under the higher law, under the great law of morality and righteousness, he is precisely as guilty if, instead of lying in a court, he lies in a newspaper or on the stump; and in all probability, the evil effects of his conduct are infinitely more widespread and more pernicious."

Nice sentiments ... for another time. Today a president can lie. He can lie under oath. He can lie in a civil case. He can then lie before a federal grand jury. He can ask other people to lie for him. He can send his cabinet out to lie to the media. He can send his staff our to spread the lies. And he can make the taxpayers pay almost $5 million to get to the truth ... and he can then get a 67 percent approval rating.

CLINTON'S OTHER LAWYER

Some of Clinton's tax-paid lawyers are working on ways to keep the Paula Jones lawsuit from coming back. Others are working on the continuing investigations by the independent counsel. But, have you heard of Gregory Craig? He is the lawyer who is helping Clinton ward off possible impeachment proceedings. You may have heard the name before. Craig was the lawyer who represented John Hinckley after he shot Ronald Reagan. Hinckley escaped responsibility with an insanity defense. So … we have a lawyer who helped the man who shot Reagan escape justice, now helping Clinton escape justice.

A NEW VICIOUSNESS ...

I can't help but notice an increasing level of bitterness and outright viciousness in the comments I have been getting on my e-mail. You would not believe the names that people are calling me.

I think I understand why.

Clinton supporters are fighting a tough internal battle. They know that they have been conned. Perhaps one of the biggest cons of all time --- but many of them just can't bring themselves to admit that they were wrong about this man who became their hero. In final analysis, they get disgusted with themselves because they are supporting such a corrupt person and they direct this anger to the people who exposed their hero for the corrupt liar that he is.

The other side is feeling pretty angry too. They are angry because they see this low-life getting away with it time and time again, and they are angry at the stupidity of the American people who continue --- or who SAY that they continue to support him.

FROM MY LISTENERS ......

Just as Graceland will forever stand as an example of why white trash should not have money, the Clinton presidency will forever stand as an example of why white trash should not have political power.
This quote from Woodrow Wilson: "Some Americans need hyphens in their name because only part of them has come over." The listener thought this might also apply to many marriages in this country.
"There is much to be said in favor of modern journalism. By giving us the opinions of the uneducated, it keeps us in touch with the ignorance of the community." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900)
