The thread is a long one. I too have more catching up to do. I think the section that deals with your qualms is the one where, mostly REH, says that, merit aside, it is the supporting infrastructure, which takes so much time and commitment to accumulate, that will determine the next standard. And yes, a lot has to do with marketing and the will of the mighty. Intel has its gaze fixed on the internet. Intel wants the internet to be fast and wide and full of streaming video. I believe the ultimate object is to require a lot of cpu horsepower. Rambus is supposed to be good for this. The most recent scare was Virtual Memory Channel, which if combined with sldram, I believe, (I'm no tech wizard), had laudable characteristics, particularly with respect to the latency issue. But we here on the thread brushed it aside as we felt it was not what Intel wanted, and just at that time various pieces of the Rambus infrastructure puzzle fell into place, completely sweeping any thought of this competitor from our collective brain. REH was very eloquent about the infrastructure theme, and subsequent market, press, and industry reaction seems to confirm. I think the prominent players on the thread have internalized the gestalt better than I have, as I only started following the stock recently. Note I am also currently flat Rambus, (and not sleeping well).

I will check the rest of that article though. Thanks for stopping in
