Although it may be one of several factors resulting in the price slide in WAVX, IMHO that the IBM/NSM announcement should not be considered the principal factor and I think too much credit is being given to it as a principal reason.

The IBM/NSM press release was made on Friday morning prior to market opening. The fact that it was probably going to be announced was known by many and was not a surprise. The WAVX downward move took place on Monday.

Although a changing situation between a potential supplier and a potential OEM customer is never helpful, both companies are still very strongly committed to their businesses. NSM's potential as a manufacturing source for WAVX has not changed (other than indicating that they want to concentrate more business in their own plants) and the IBM PC group's potential as an OEM partner to use the WAVE system has not changed.

IMHO that the potential reasons for the slide that were so well pointed out and summarized by Marty and Wildman are much more central to the real causes.

I, like others, have taken this as an opportunity, rather than a crisis, and have used the opportunity to increase my position.

Just my opinion.

Best to all.

Steve

Snackman,

Even if IBM and National are calling it quits how does that effect Wave? IBM has to get their chips from somebody. STANDARD MICRO SYSTEMS perhaps, where Wave already has a signed agreement. I don't see that announcement as a reason for the sell off. I think is has more to do with the Reg D shares that Wahoograd spoke to yesterday. IMO.
