Lib, I agree with you...At these meetings many analysts are not paying attention...they talk about other stocks and what not...therefore, a certain percentage aren't listening at all...These analyst will get info from from other analysts in the room...keeping this in mind, it might have been an orchestrated event by short sellers to create fear in the room or in the hallways....

Probably the exec's of Nortel are not to blame...Someone should investigate to see wether the stock has been shorted more than usually recently and also check the open interest on the Nortel Puts. One should also check Nortel's parent company BCE. BCE share price is affected by a drop in Nortel's share price...People would do anything for a buck...Look at what happened to Biochem last year...Police who investigated determined that someone intentionally put a bomb at Biochem's headquarters hoping to drive the share price down...luckily the stock was halted as soon as that occurred. These group of investors had bought large blocks of put options...
