Johnathan - <<sort of OT>> spoken as if you actually believe all of the fear-mongering of the "spin-cycle" machine. You hear the dire gloom-and-doom warning nonsense about these dangerous, evil, hateful "your grandmother will be eating dog-food" Republicans doing away with medicare and social security and hunker down in fear.

Cut taxes in half? Ridiculous. Change the amounts paid and the sources, yes, but cut the government's income? You need a reality check. Politicians are O P M addicts (Other People's Money - say "O P M" a couple of times and you'll get the analogy).

Do away with Medicare and SS? More pap. Fix the Ponzi-like scheme so that you and I will see something - yes, but don't be so gullible to believe that one side is going to get rid of it.

If you didn't have a Republican congress, you wouldn't have SS and Medicare - you'd have socialized medicine and your parents would be on waiting lists for specialists and you'd have thousands more non-medical bureaucrats making medical decisions than we do now with insurance companies. And when they overrun the budget they'd just come and take more from us every year to cover the additional administrative costs. And I'm sure that any government-run extended care facility would be a wonderful place for the elderly. Gosh, look what a wonderfully run IT infrastructure to base it on, too.

Stop listening to sound bites.

Done ranting, Mr. K.
