Permedia III and Rage 128 are threatened if their hardware impinges on 3Dfx's patent, not if they use the same API call. Unless making the API call requires that one impinge on the patent. Somebody recently reminded me of the post-it patent. Talk about ridiculous. Just about anybody with paper that has a sticky backing is screwed. If 3dfx's patent is broad enough there may be no other way to implement it without a change in DX6. Right? (As I'm not a patent lawyer this is a WAG.) Pat
