j_b, did you read what you're responding to? Where, exactly, did I say I didn't like that poll? The two articles I referred to were talking about exactly the same poll, as near as I can tell. From nytimes.com, dateline Sept. 25: President Clinton's standing with Americans has rebounded broadly in the days since the release of his videotaped testimony before a grand jury, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll. From msnbc.com , dateline Sept. 28: Consider these findings from the latest New York Times/CBS News poll of people most likely to vote in November. And remember that polls of people most likely to vote show some significant differences from standard opinion polls that sample the views of the general public. . . . What Should Congress do?: Impeach Clinton: 50 percent; Drop the matter: 28 percent. Same poll, right? But neither the NYT story, nor your Washington Post/ABC poll/story, show anything like 50% saying "impeach Clinton", likely voters or not. Among likely Republican voters, maybe. I think the NYT story is more informative. If somebody can figure out where Severin's "50% Impeach Clinton" line comes from, let me know. Cheers, Dan.
