Dauvin is actually pretty good. He correctly called the 1996 DRAM bust, for example. (In 1994.)

No, Dataquest is not my pick for most accurate analyst either. I think the problem is their assumptions (which usually don't get discussed by reporters looking for a sound bite). If Japan and Asia fix their problems without causing a global recession, then yes, we may very well see 11-12% growth next year, but I'm not as confident as Dataquest that they will do so.

Ian,

there was a good article about Dauvin in Bus. Week 9-8-97.
He had a good record but his forecast last year was way off (too
rosy). Took me a while to find the article in my files. Probably
can find it in BW web site.
