Eric,

>>hardware is changing to new communications protocols and
standards.<<

>>I really see 3Com and Cisco profiting from this.<<

I think what you're implying is that the companies that
stick to their knitting and keep improving products, adding
value, keep up with changes in the industry are the ones
that will do well. Is this correct?

Companies that are spending too much time and efforts
on "musical chairs" and
logistical mechanics as the answer to problems risk not
keeping focused on the real technology.

With the market weakening, and the numerous examples of
mergers gone bad, future mergers should be looked at with
much caution. Any company that bases it's future on
mergers could end up making fatal mistakes.

Eric,

I forgot to ask. Does the problems with
NT and Alcatel change your view on CSCO's earnings
prospect this quarter?

(I'm thinking of picking up a few shares of CSCO on
this price weakness.)

thanks,

joe
