daddycool...and here I thought you were more knowledgeable than that!!! Clinton has a whole bunch of new social spending lined up for that money!!! The Republicans want to give a little back to working families, farmers, small businesses and married couples. Clinton just wants to put more people in the wagon being pulled by the taxpayers instead of having them get out and help pull the wagon with us. Give us a break!!!

I get it....you were joking, right?

<< they sure seem anxious to get rid of the first surplus in 29 years.
Spend it immediately, just off the press, give everyone a tax
cut immediately---talk about conservative fiscal policies.>>

they are proposing an $80 billion dollar tax cut over 5 years. The surplus over that time is expected to be $1 trillion. That means they would not be spending 92% of the surplus. Not exactly getting rid of it, is it?

Respectfully, a tax cut is not "spending it"; It is merely getting less of our money.
