Are you forgetting all those CSEG (Computer Systems Engineering) majors?

No, of course not, Herb. I just know that at the University of Iowa, it's usually the case that different colleges and departments tend to have "specialty" labs for their students. These labs are filled with machines that either fit a particular purpose better or were purchased because some moron in the front office got duped.

There are quite a few general purpose labs open to all students, and even though those do have a lot of different programs on them, I can tell you for a fact that the VAST majority of the computing done in those places is e-mail and word processing.

BTW, FWIW, the math department here, God bless 'em, still has a NeXt lab. They'll probably turn it into a museum one of these days.
