1/2 page ad today in the SF Chronicle. the large "HUH?" is eye catching, but the rest was just ok in my opinion. They do have a formidable task to express, but I think they're trying to do to much with one ad. There's also two taglines, both "The virtual assistant that does virtually everything" and the brand image "Portico - it's magicTalk" with many paragraphs of explanation. Alot of text for one ad...I'm eagerly awaiting the radio spots.

Hip and glib is a better approach to catch consumer's attention than serious. Hope there's more to follow this one.

regards,
dazy

Mark, I agree with you about the ads. There are parts I wish were a little different, but I think they have done an excellent job of accomplishing the task at hand.

The task, as I see it, is as follows:
1. Get enough attention for somebody to stop and look at the ad.
2. Create enough interest for somebody to either go to the web site to read more details or listen to
a demo.
3. Create brand recognition of both the Magic Talk trademark for quality and the graphics for ultimate use in point of sale displays.

I feel that the ad balances all of the tasks fairly economically. A long road remains for this campaign, but I feel it is off to a good start.

Best wishes to all who believe in the magic, especially Deep Research!
