AAPL Japan initially limited iMAC sales to allow proper introduction

Would a diskette drive have made a difference ? Evidently a lesson was learned from iMAC's USA intro but Japan's iMAC demand overwhelmed its limitation plan:

" Mail-order purchases are possible, despite the company's initial intention to
sell the new PC model only through shops where sales staff could fully
explain the use of iMac PCs.

In Tokyo, Ikeshop, Yu Co., Ltd. and Tsukumo Electronics Co., Ltd. are
selling the iMac without any delay in delivery to customers, because they boosted their in-house inventories.

Shops that sell computers to those who ordered in advance also have cut the delivery time for the iMac to about four to seven days, sources said. "

Demand and supply are now in line , just in time for Japan's PC Expo . Wonder if Elliot plotted that into his 10/3 chart ?

iMAC's attractiveness set aside installation concerns and the availability of Internet iMAC help sites may have turned the FUD tide.
