Sega's new toy (should be close to the new Sony toy) - note the "smart" card thingie (STM's big-time niche though this may be much simpler and so not applicable):

Sega to Sell Video-Game System With Internet Access, NEN Says

Tokyo, Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Sega Enterprises Ltd. next month will begin selling a video-game system in Japan that also provides access to the Internet and electronic-mail capabilities, Nikkei English News reported, citing unidentified people from the company. Users of the 128-bit Dreamcast system will be able to download games from the Tokyo-based company's web site, paying for them with prepaid cards available to customers who don't have credit cards. Sega hopes the system will enable it to compete with market leader Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., which makes the PlayStation system, NEN said.

Sony's entertainment unit last month cut the price of its PlayStation video-game console by 13 percent to boost sales before rival Sega releases Dreamcast.

As to the market everyone's scared (yet again). Still think the
DOW is too high and should be around 7200 or so. Noted also that
IT jobs are down a bit (though still torrid). Housing down. P&G,
Coke, Gilette job cuts. Duh! Recession - you bet! Interestingly
how we started out with the techs (most cyclical group) getting busted earliest and now for the first time in a long long time the companies that are announcing warnings are not the tech stocks (because all
numbers are low and they may be recovering) but the big multi-nationals and the consumer non-durable type stocks. Plus the one time invincibles - communication stocks (buying opp.). Did you notice that HRC got thumped the last few days. Heck hospitals now! Like I said this is recession time. No point mincing words.
