Some sweet deals for some early adopters would seem to be very much in Qcom's best interests. Isn't this what Ericsson wants?

I initially thought that this game would stretch out for as long as it takes for Ericsson to build up some *real* cdma capablibities. However, given that they have been working on the stuff for 10 years and are just now contemplating trials in the wind, we may have to wait a few dozen blue moons. A two year fight would be quite nice though. By that time, G* and Leap should be percolating!

Your cdma2000 thoughts sound good to me. Nothing like a little progress to focus one's attention, add a new flavour to the broth and get the M & A chaps working weekends. However, this activity could well throw everything into a loop d'loop.

Didn't the Q announce their cdma effort in '93, kick off trials in '95 and commercial launch in '96? If Ericsson can match that feat, they deserve W-CDMA. Especially if, they manage to coerce everyone in the industry into helping. nf
