I think a reason why the stock has not tanked today is
because 9/30 is the last day that portfolio managers
can window-dress their holdings with high flyers.
My strategy is to pairtrade AMZN by shorting its shares
and long the ITM calls in NEM and ABX. The mining
stocks will continue to do well in the near term and
will help hedge your downside exposure in AMZN and the
market, in general. This strategy would blow up only if
the global turmoil improves drastically and, thus, decimates
the mining/hedge calls and cause AMZN to run up another
100% in 2 weeks. Somehow, I don't see this happening in
the near term. If you're lucky, you will make money on BOTH
sides of the trade. After yesterday, there are few stocks that
are as weak as AMZN, technically and fundamentally. YHOO earnings might give it a brief lift but its own earnings or warning will
kill it.
