Hi JC,

I think MSFT should be the one watching its backside. This is
great news for the computing world, period.

Hopefully, RedHat will put its energy into end-user computing
& make a useful & RELIABLE OS for the PC. I have argued long
& hard for a public domain O/S for PC's because the hardware
is public domain, & maybe this is it. I've been using FreeBSD
on Intel for about 1 year & it's good enough for me & it's
reliable & doesn't get in my way, you can't beat the price &
the source & support is available all over the internet. What
would be great would be a windows-like (cde type?) UI as an
option along with a fistfull of popular PC applications.

Someone needs to package that support & make Linux into a full-
fledged product. If it gets the right kind of push, NOW, it
will beat NT5 to market & grab a foothold.

MSFT will try to muscle Linux off the retail shelf-space & thru
the resale channels. Failing that, they'll port their apps to
it & play a more long-term game. Maybe they'll revive Xenix
(hahahahahaha!!!)
