Has NT clarified yesterday's misquotes yet? Anything in the Canadian press?

Actually yes, Press releases were out after the close yesterday. All the Canadian press that I read and the WSJ have picked up the "facts". Essentially, lower SALES, but will MEET EARNINGS EXPECTATIONS for the next quarter; no warning whatsoever for 1999.

But we now have the situation of the analysts announcing to the world that they're bumbling idiots or saving face. They seem to have decided to attempt to save face.

IMO, this will set up some estimates for the next few quarters that will be exceeded by the sector. ... unless of course the analysts maintain or raise their estimates while downgrading the stocks.

The other option is that the Communications revolution will be declared over; the Internet is an abomination and its death will be declared; developing nations will decide not to use Communications technology to build a modern infrastructure; and all Telecom Equipment companies globally will never make another sale, declaring bankruptcy while the makers of Smoke Signal Equipment will suddenly prosper followed only by the Tin Can and String makers.

Poor little beanie baby. I hope he survives this latest hiccup.

Best wishes,
Ian.

Hey Pat,

John Roth will be on CNBC Monday AM. Press releases stated that revenues for the third quarter are on the low side but earnings will meet for q3 and q4.
