I'll handle this one, MB.<g>

A "chip cycle" is a vehicle consisting
of a metal frame on two wheels, having
handlebars and a seat, and follows a
buffalo herd comprised mainly of bulls.<g>
The trick to riding a "chip cycle" is
to avoid the chips, especially the newer ones.<g>

ED, A chip cycle is a Harley ridden by Erik Estrada. -g- Assuming you are serious, the chip cycle is simply the business cycle for those who produce semiconductors. They make profits in the upcycle and produce losses in the downcycle. This downcycle will be both deeper and longer lasting than previous ones due to Y2K, the falloff in the pc demand growth rate in units, the peaking of the telecom cycle, and the impoverishment of the global consumer all running more or less concurrently.
