Hi Big-D; Re Clinton in chains. Everybody does know that Clinton's ancestors owned slaves, correct? So chains are in order...

More seriously, I've been thinking more about the two party system. I posted earlier that a multiparty system tends to be a little more extreme than the two party system.

I was wondering. What about a one-party system? My suspicion is that a one-party system is subject to higher corruption. So here is my question:

Is is true that the most pervasive corruption occurs in the US (or abroad) in places dominated by a single party?

I'm thinking of party machine control of the government. Examples:
(1) The racist, democratic old south.
(2) Tammany hall.
(3) Chicago.
(4) The executive branch.
(5) New York City.
(6) (Why is it that I seem to be having trouble finding examples of really nasty Republican corruption, other than Nixon? Maybe I'm a little biased...)

(Alternate wording for Republicans only: Is is true that the worst corruption occurs in the US in places dominated by the Democrats?
