I have heard that one of the leading proponents of Linux is a senior CPQ executive (formerly with DEC). CPQ's endorsement of Linux is somewhat complicated by their long and well established relationship with SCO. CPQ runs more than 60% of the SCO installations world wide and this represents at least a billion annually to CPQ. CPQ and SCO's relationship with small VARs and resellers represents an asset which CPQ will not likely dump until they see equivalent revenue through some Linux play.

The others (Dell GTW etc.) have nothing to lose from a Linux play since they do not have a significant Linux play at this time.
