Equis is owned by reuthers, a data vendor. Equis does not share their 2000 format, so nearly all are restricted to 255 from other vendors. I assume reuthers provides 2000 dir.

Dop is a file that assist other charting programs to work with 255 metastock format. Metastock doesn't talk about it because they assume you would use Reuthers. You don't need it for metastock only but GET, WOW and others probally require it. Safe thing to do, provide it.

QP2's output to metastock has a options button which gives you a check box for dop files. or as help says:

The Set Options dialog lets you select different options for your Metastock®-compatible files.

1. Set the volume scaling.

This option lets you choose whether you want the exported volume to be shown in 1's or 100's. Example: For a total volume of 387,000, with scaling set to 1's, the output would be 387000; with scaling set to 100's, the output would be 3870.

2. Set Which Symbol To Use for Industry Groups.

This option lets you choose the symbol to use for IRL Industry Groups when outputting. Use QP symbol - will assign its own symbol to the IRL Industry Group.
Use IRL symbol - The symbol assigned by IRL will be used.
(Note: This option will apply to the normal output and virtual output.)

3. Set the number of days to export. The range is 0 (exports all data) to 2200.
4. Set option for creating DOP files This option lets you indicate whether a DOP file should be created for each security exported.
5. Click OK to save any changes or Cancel.
