Almost without a doubt they are incorrect. But the point is that the forecasters are not revising their estimates downward. Yes, companies impacted by Asian and South American weakness will manifest their diminished performance by curtailing purchases. This will affect aggregate forecasts. But even in that environment it is possible for Dell to flourish while its competition founders. Look at Dell's numbers and compare them to Compaq, HWP and IBM over the last few quarters to see what I mean.

The ultimate proof was that during the last quarter Dell increased sales in Asia by 34%.
