Ed,

I still don't have a clear understanding of the mechanics of what is going on with the preferred shareholders. If you are "shorting against the box" doesn't that mean you are long and short in the same stock at the same time? Who is letting them borrow the shares to short? The brokers I am aware of don't let you short a stock unless it is marginable or >$5. And the short interest position continues to grow significantly.

I can understand how you can make money easily if you are short and can cover with shares at a guaranteed low price - but who would be letting you borrow your own shares in this situation to short more - especially if they knew you did not have the market risk of needing to cover like anyone else?
