What follows are some ignorant ravings on Rampage:
In an effort to decrease my ignorance I have been looking into rendering techniques. Seller's comment about the next generation being a new revolution like Voodoo1 got me interested. It seems we should be looking for a fundamental change in rendering techniques to bring 3d to the next level. What makes me think this? Here's a quote from Scott:

We are always investigating novel ways to accelerate models which are difficult to model polygonally. That's all we can say for now...

Sounds like they have something up there sleeve or there would be no need to be quiet about it. Anyway...

Basically I'm getting that Sellers is looking for something that will give good anti-aliasing, concentrates at the "pixel" level, will help with real-time shadows, will do many (4+) textures in a single pass. Now all this really looks to me like ray tracing. That is, until Sellers says we are WAY away from that. It seems that there is an alternative to ray tracing though. The rendering technique is called scanline rendering and is what they used in the movie Toy Story. Here is what I could scare up on the subject:

Not much. I must admit that my ignorance in this area is boundless but I'm hoping you guys will set me on the right path.
