Bruce, I think one of the causes of the BK will be Y2K spending, which is a total waste as it adds nothing to productivity and costs a lot. It will also reduce IT budgets, and IT has been one of the few areas to grow during the past few years. But, not everything dies during the BK. Just most stuff. On Elan, I have to defer to Ligand mgt's expertise that it is a smart strategic move. I know nothing about the co. You might want to check out Henry Niman, as he is an encyclopedia about Ligand related issues. MB
