Subject CDRD:

I forgot to ask what was meant by "orphan"? Is that whose money they've invested? I'm surprised they didn't list "widow" as well.

I was earlier short on CDRD and made some money, but there are a couple of things that bother me about shorting it again. First of all, I have seen that many stocks are either manipulated or very subject to hype, for example AVNT doubled almost overnight on leaked news that the judge wasn't going to halt their sales of their stolen product line. The stock has since slumped back to its levels before then, but not before forcing me to cover for a loss, wiping out my earlier gains in AVNT. Thus, I think CDRD could be quickly moved to 50 without trouble. True, it wouldn't be sustainable, but it would be hard to maintain a short position with that kind of pressure. That's an argument for shorting huge blue-chips, like EK, or for shorting stocks that have already made huge gains and are close to a high (though that latter strategy didn't work on the Internuts.)

The other thing about CDRD that bothers me is that it could theoretically work. They have been coming up with the funding, which was a big hurdle. There are still many questions: (1) will it work technically, or will the signal be awful, with interference from trees, raindrops, high vehicle speed, witches on broomsticks, etc. (2) Even if they get the funding, get it built, and it works, will people pay big bucks to have a special receiver put in their cars, and pay for the subscription?
