Slider:

OSX opened UP 1% today despite plunging market. Gold and gold stocks continue to surge. The strength in gold is very positive for the oil sector down the road. Where gold leads oil follows.

I do think you are much too optimistic on the financial sector. I have long viewed this sector as the most overvalued and risky in the entire market. With the global financial system imploding, the risks here are enormous. Stocks which have dropped 50% can easily fall another 50%. That is what happened to many blue chip "darlings' in the 1973-74 bear.

Slider, (OT)My favorite regional bank is Region's Financial (RGBK). Great bank that just keeps growing. No hedge fund or overseas exposure- but down 33% in the downdraft. If you like banks, then take a look.

Are we also getting close to a time to buy Asian stocks generally? I think soon.... Meanwhile do not forget our "tablecloth" calculations here of the impact of the OPEC/non-OPEC crude production cuts. We should see them biting into world market oil supplies this month, dropping about 1mm bbls/day frm available supplies and thus starting to soak up the world excesses....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
