Henry, Ramsey, LTC was not done in by the HKMA. A single transaction imploded the fund - being long Russian GKO's. The Head of LTCM, John Merriwether then proceeded to start a chain letter/petition circulated among the entire hedge fund community pleading with the U.S. Govt. to work out something where they'd get the principals back on the GKO's.
