That line led me to believe that Intel was targeting a switched fabric to replace the INTERNAL bus, but I suppose it could extend further than that. It will be interesting to watch...

Intel also seems to be supporting USB and 1394. I wonder if switched fabrics are available for either one? (I doubt it on USB.)

Don't forget that there's a general trend towards SMP multiprocessing even in desktop machines. I think it's not surprising that in Intel's vision the future PC would have 2-4 Intel CPUs in it... in that light, their concern with switching inside the PC is quite understandable.

Yet another way in which FC might leverage its presence in the storage arena into something much larger... not without heavy competition, of course.
