Zeev,

Thanks for the replies. I already have marketguage bookmarked. The problem is that it seems to me to be a very blunt forecasting tool for the longer term. Similarly by the time the Dow Transports confirm we are in a bear market it is too late<G>.

As an example of what I am looking for, Ed Yardeni's site contains forecasts on how he (and by implication Deutsche Bank) thinks the US economy will evolve over the forthcoming year. This forecast is based on some form of modeling - it is the modeling and the selection of inputs to the models that I am interested in understanding. I tend to be very cautious of other people's analyses (of anything) unless I understand how they arrived at their results/conclusions. What I am looking for is a kind of kick-start to some of the models used for economic forecasting. No point in reinventing the wheel!

I come from a background of simulating (and currently building to verify my simulations) complex earth remote sensing instruments and am familiar with multi-variate analyses etc. Hopefully, unlike Long Term Capital <G>, I will not lose sight of the applicability of any models I develop. At this point it is mainly an academic/intellectual curiosity exercise.

Many thanks

GaryS
