A very interesting analogy, thanks. Now that you mention it, I recall seeing power transmitters and radio antennae intended to capture electrical power on the GE Home Theater, when I was a younger lad. This was the way we were to receive our power in the future, the ads said. Spherical charge collectors they were, not antennae.

What year(s) are we talking about here, would you happen to know? Late Fifties? I'll have an associate do some homework and come up with those clippings for future references. <g>
