When J.P. Morgan lost a fortune in a good company's stock he was buying someone asked him, "What is the nature of stocks?" Morgan replied, "They fluctuate". I have to admit I was wrong when I said the institutions were acting crazy when they received the well-distributed insider news. Earnings are important, but I prefer the top line. In FORE's case this can't be too bad:

FORE's second quarter results were affected by higher than anticipated demand and customer delivery schedules. The volume of orders received during the final days of the quarter overwhelmed manufacturing capacity, the company said.

It's the kind of bad news I like though I wouldn't go long until the sturm und drang has subsided. You never know what else may be hidden in selling. A 30% downside gap in a high average turnover stock is rarely good news for the intermediate term.

Does anyone understand Fore's explanation for shortfall. A flood of new orders at the end of the quarter does not seem to support falling so short of anticipated earnings and sales. The shipments necessary to meet expectations would have been known long before that

Rick, Haven't you ever worked for a company where shipments are skewed toward the last week of the last month of a quarter? Maybe you think you might be short, but are hoping to pull a rabbit out of the hat the last minute. Sometimes you make it; sometimes you don't. I've been there many times. Don't blame FORE, I'm sure they gave it their best. So, the revenue is light, big deal, its not like there are major problems that require restructuring charges and losses. Stock over reacted. Don't know were the bottom is, but probably not far from here. BTW I bought some today.
