There is a very nice closed end fund traded on the Naz, The Southeastern Thrift & Bank Fund (STBF).

Also a good fund. I believe the bloom is off the rose in the "southeast US" however if they actually concentrate there. Some of the big mergers in Florida were at a very hefty premium and have sunk the acquiring companies. SunTrust is a notable example. By buying the Virginia bank (name eludes me), they put themselves up for grabs once things settle out.

With this fund and BTO, you have to be careful of capital gains distributions around the end of the year. Best time to buy is the first few days in January.
