Just goes to show you how prolonged abuse ultimately becomes "accepted." My gosh, a near 10% bid/ask spread being reasonable. You're right it is... given the nightmare spreads on all options. And to think AMAT is one of the big boys with lots of action. Remind me to get into a business that guarantees the kind of practically risk free opportunities market makers have... oh wait, forgot to line my congressperson's pocket to look the other way, guess I'll have to subsidize the lining via a more indirect route i.e., spread, commissions, pricing, etc. There ought to be a law ;-0

Joseph,

why would someone pay over $4 for the right to buy AMAT at $40 when you can just buy the shares at that price next week?

Only kidding but things do look very bad. Looks like the small investors are finally shaken. The herd has turned and is leaving the market.
