John, that is one reason I like stocks (not yet) like CSCO, DELL and XIRC, they all made recent new highs. XIRC, I almost jumped on today when it went back under 20, but I think it could have a spike somewhat lower.

The general list is full of utilities and I think that some of these are still good buys, but these are too boring for me.

<''Was Long-Term the thing that turned the tide for the Fed (on the rate decision)?'' said Chris Rupkey, economist at Bank of Tokyo/Mitsubishi. ''It could have been the straw that broke the
camel's back. We just don't know.''

But he added that one thing was clear: ''The markets are leading the Fed by the nose. They don't want to see any risks to the system. I think they are generally worried.''>

Big Board announces circuit breakers

my.excite.com

<< NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (UPI) The New York Stock Exchange says it has implemented new circuit breaker trigger levels for fourth-quarter 1998, effective immediately.

The exchange said trading will be halted for one hour if the Dow Jones Industrial Average, in a single session, posts an 800-point drop. >>

How convenient.
