OT - computer question.

Ok, this might sound stupid but here it goes.

Does anybody know of a PCMCIA card that offers a wireless connection to the Internet? Maybe this is beyond the realm of today's technology, but I seem to remember reading something about this somewhere. It might be a future "Bluetooth" product that isn't available yet.

One way to do this is to have a wireless connection to a phone line and then dial an ISP. This is not the preferred method since it would probably require me to plug a transceiver into a phone line and locate the computer a short distance away. This isn't very mobile and only eliminates the wire between the computer and the phone jack. IBM has a product like this but it's not really what I'm looking for.

Another way is for the PCMCIA card to communicate with a satellite or transceiver station using digital or analog signals. This is similar to how cellular telephones work, I think. I'm looking for something very mobile since I travel a lot. My goal is to turn on my laptop, plug in a PCMCIA card, and connect to the Internet through an ISP that supports wireless connections. Has anybody heard of anything like this or am I asking a totally bogus question? If a product like this doesn't exist, who wants to go into business with me to design one? LOL A product like this would probably be in very high demand.

Thanks,
Dan

off topic and chatty -----
and then some on topic, too .........

=====> the gods must have liked me today

sure glad they took a liking to somebody 'cause they sure didn't care for me all day long ..........
started out bad when the priest didn't even show up for early morning mass 'cause he was ill .......
and
proceeded to the painters using 8 gallons of the wrong color paint 'cause the idiot at the paint store couldn't tell the difference between a 1 and a 7 .....
and
then the hardware store sent out the knobs, hinges, and drawer pulls in the incorrect finish and all of them got installed before I came by to inspect the job ............
and
the texture folks used a 3/8 inch nap roller instead of a 3/4 inch nap rolller to put the final coat on the walls in the new sun room ......
and
then the market goes down .........

LOL and happy that you had a good day ........ gggggg

Heck, Dan and Tina are probably happy too, Slocum has finally settled on a QB for the Aggies .........

Oh well, I just must count my blessings as I find them .......
T Tech is 4/0 and by the time we get to the Aggies to whip their a#ses, who knows, maybe Slocum will have picked a 12th man to be the QB ......... VBZG

I'm glad that you killed a high dollar blue (used to be bigger dollars last year) and glad that you flipped all the flapjacks and made a bunch .....

that's all for the chatty part .......

now for the on topic ------

I'm getting prepared to commence trading the futures towards the end of October .......
the spread on the OEX and the SPX have driven me away......

any advice from the knowledgable folks here on the Z ... ? ?

I use to trade the futures long ago and in a different climate ....... matter of fact, Sue, Dan, and Tina were probably in preschool back then ....... that would put Ron in graduate school at that time ......
and I wasn't as close to the rest home as I am now ....... ggggg

I could never get anyone here interested in the indexes way back when I first came on line ....
anyone for the futures ? ? ?

Horse races, futures, and the BigChiefTablet .........
that's how I got started ............
now here I am going back to the past .......
anyone care to join in ?
