HDTV only going to be available on SONY and they won't have set available until NOV (just a short time before 1st game - to be aired only in NY area. Other 3 games to be aired nationally and distributed to all affiliates that have the equipment installed to accept signals.

Maybe CBS getting an early lead will help its format win out over the competing HDTV format. However, sony is very high priced so CBS is not going to make major consumer inroads if sony is only producer. Plus most people are starting to hold on to cash in hand right now fearing what the future may bring with markets so volital. Expect HDTV will just be a big expense for CBS for next few years without much public acceptance, at least until people feel better about their jobs/wealth.
