Ish,

Monte Carlo? That gambling mecca in Europe? Funny, but just today we were discussing why the Monte Carlo bar on racing cars came to be called that. There was a lot of conjecture, but nobody really knew for sure. Oh yeah, we were discussing this on the Classic Cougar Listserv. Much of the remainder of the discussion centered on how to replace door hinges. Fascinating stuff!

Dogs are neat creatures, to be sure. I have heard that a lot of Greyhounds end up in rescue because they have outlived their racing days. How very sad. I could never relate to that kind of mentality.

Dogs used in therapy is an interesting subject. In addition to nursing home therapy, many of these dogs are used to work with disturbed and autistic children and adults. It takes a special dog to fill this order. The dog must persist in forcing its attention on the subject, through varying degrees of abuse and neglect, without retaliating. Finally, if and when the dog breaks through the patient's psychological barriers, traditional treatment can commence.
