Bob,

Re: "IDT faces MPU speed challenges -->
ebnews.com "

Now I thought that IDTI had a "state of the art" .25um process there
in Oregon ... Maybe Scumbria can clear this up. Seems like they are as
"technology challenged" as AMD and NSM. It is easy in theory to put in place
a .25um process, but it is much harder to get top performance from that
process. I think this quote from the URL sums it up pretty well. -->

"The challenge in WinChip is getting to higher and higher clock speeds,"
said Dave Côté, vice president of marketing for the Santa Clara, Calif.,
company. "We're shipping 240-, 225-, and 200-MHz versions, but the market's
at 266 MHz."

Just at 266mhz, this guy is still a year behind in his "thinking" ... I
would avoid this company, they don't have a credible technology roadmap.

Make It So,
Yousef

I don't know about everything else, but he is way off on prices (at least for M2's. My guess is that M2s (255 - 333) are $40 - $90 wholesale.

And to think when Winchip first came out one of the things they mentioned was the simpler design would lead to higher clock speeds to 'equalize' horsepower ....

Now not even Winchip2 can hack it.
