'sfunny, whenever you get in trouble with authority they blame you. When its a group they blame authority on the premise that 10,000 people cannot be wrong. When its war they blame the dictator or some foul creed that leads men astray. Who is right? I blame the tendency for democratic decision and most men to schlep into sheep land and shoot en masse from the high ground instead of using the grey room for a point of observation. With recent herdings it has been said variously that the herded were blameless. Some feel it emanated from ethnic polarization. I say it comes from not xenophobia or paranoia but errant structures of power. In a succinct manner when states are not answerable they can err at will. When men have power they err all the time as they do not question themselves and eternity. The eternal was invented so that men would have a conscience. But in the meantime a questioning mind and fear and resentment of too much unchecked authority would suffice. People have asked me of events if they were likely or happened under the powers of state. I reply I know not but would believe the worst of tyrants and happily accede to tales of woe under them as true in kind without question. Quell freedom and you quell life in time. What happened in germany was not from some people who could post hate but from the lack of freedom for the average german to speak his mind without fear. You could have filled up stadiums with people who despised and hated Hitler in germany but you could not fill up a phone booth with people who were willing to get shot.
